Even though the conversation is actually, hey, can you cover this hearing tomorrow, or I need research done. I dunno why I feel that way, but I do. I think the boss caught on to my anxiety too, because he's started coming into my office instead when he needs me to do something. I also started to freak out a couple weeks ago when he had a long meeting with a financial adviser and was pulling out financial records from the accounting desk. I'm like, oh god, he can't afford me, he's going to fire me. So far, not fired. It's stressful though, I agree, knowing that we're damn lucky to have the jobs we do, and if our jobs went away, we'd be desperate to find something anywhere near comparable. But if you guys are crazy busy, that's a good thing.Andreahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11173655298262399906noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1678671341796735502.post-28049801696475359142010-05-18T17:36:49.340-07:002010-05-18T17:36:49.340-07:00I want you to go buy yourself a second pair of pow...I want you to go buy yourself a second pair of power cowboy boots, keep them in the office, and secretly wear them whenever you are sitting at your desk. :DAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1678671341796735502.post-38968605808627379362010-05-18T09:05:53.025-07:002010-05-18T09:05:53.025-07:00Your job seems to be pretty stable. Not to mention - I would like your fictional romance with the associate to continue! ;)Tree Hugging Attorneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16908793124098676834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1678671341796735502.post-4591923118453889202010-05-18T08:51:46.556-07:002010-05-18T08:51:46.556-07:00It sounds like you're actually in a very good ...It sounds like you're actually in a very good position. I learned the hard way that not having enough work is a very bad thing. The other attorneys you work with know that there is a VERY steep learning curve for new lawyers. Law school really doesn't teach you how to practice law, you learn that by doing exactly what you're doing now. You make mistakes, you learn from then and you move on. It's when you keep making the same mistakes that people will start to loose their patience with you and question your worth to the firm. Just keep you head down and keep up your amazingly positive attitude.Downsized Attorneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16351328484511626674noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1678671341796735502.post-70209004226460852052010-05-18T07:57:42.340-07:002010-05-18T07:57:42.340-07:00Girl I expect nothing less than the cowgirl boots ...Girl I expect nothing less than the cowgirl boots for Miss Cee!

I know what you mean about the power piece - I have some serious stilletos that make me feel tall (gasp!) and powerful. Love it.

And nothing beats jeans at work. I am going on vacation over Memorial Day and I just know they're going to institute a jeans day the Friday before. Bummer.

On the other issue, you've got your head on straight. I think realizing you don't know anything is a sign of wisdom. It will get better - one day you'll be doing something and realize, "Hey, wait a sec - I didn't know how to do this when I started this job and now look at me go!"Portiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01319767548482677457noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1678671341796735502.post-73245239723242371852010-05-17T19:17:09.176-07:002010-05-17T19:17:09.176-07:00Love it! My power piece was a HOT pink hat (the ugliest baseball hat you'd ever seen), but I sadly left it in Guatemala and nothing I've ever owned since could replace the hole it left in my self-confidence.jehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10325718347907489658noreply@blogger.com
